Have you ever had a near-death experience? If so, what was it like? Did you see a bright light at the end of the tunnel? Did your life flash before your eyes?

If not, what do you think happens? If you were to experience one tomorrow, would you feel at peace or unsettled?

Discuss all this week!

I have never had a near death experience. I mean, I've been so scared I thought I was going to die, but nothing like serious where I've been in a car accident or in the hospital or anything. So I'm not too sure what happens. I'm not really looking forward to finding out either tongue.gif

Yeah, I wouldn't imagine one would welcome a near-death experience, but then I could be wrong. The closest thing I can think of too near-death that happen to me was almost drowning when I was little tyke (although one might say i had some help in that effort). I was really young, so I doubt there was much to flash back to, but I know the incident stayed with me personally for a long time. I probably didn't go near water again until 4th or 5th grade, but in terms of swimming, it's one of those hurdles that I haven't been able to overcome.

The other one that I can think of that really shook me up was I was riding home from college with my dad one night, and some idiot ended up rear-ending us while trying to outrun a red light. It was really horrifying. One minute, I was listening to the music on my portable radio, and the next minute I'm feeling my body being propelled between the seat belt and the actual seat. I can vividly recall my screams and whimpers as it was happening. No picnic by a long stretch. Since where it happens was a traditional passing area on my way home, it took me a while to pass by that area without feeling reminded of what happened.

I've had one when I was 16, I was swimming at the local swimming pool with my family, I had just gotten off the water slide. My cousin didn't know that I was still at the bottom of the slide and went down. Landing on me and knocking me out, lifeguard pulled me out an did CPR, getting me back breathing and everything. It was pretty scary, I don't remember seeing bright lights or anything like that, to this day I will not go in water or swim.

I feel you, Kelly. It's not fun getting salty water in your lungs, or such was the situation in my case. Funny enough, I'm still drawn to the water. I suppose that has to do with the climate down here, where one of the things to do during the summer is storm the beaches.

I voted yes, but I don't really know if it was a near death experience. Back when I was in grade 9, I was involved in a car accident, and I didn't have my life flash before my eyes, or anything like that, but right before and for about a day after the accident, I was recalling things from my childhood and growing up that I didn't remember very well.
